Pan-Fried Salmon

Ingredients:

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 150g each), skin-on
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • Fresh dill or parsley for garnish
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Salmon:

    • Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides of the fillets with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the Pan:

    • In a large non-stick skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.
  3. Cook the Salmon:

    • Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the skillet. Press down on the fillets with a spatula to ensure the skin makes good contact with the pan.
    • Cook for about 4-5 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and the salmon is cooked about three-quarters of the way through.
    • Carefully flip the salmon fillets over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked to your desired level of doneness.
  4. Add Aromatics:

    • Add the minced garlic to the pan during the last minute of cooking, stirring it around the fillets. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
    • Add the lemon slices to the pan and cook for a few seconds on each side until slightly caramelized.
  5. Serve:

    • Transfer the salmon fillets to a serving plate, garnish with fresh dill or parsley, and arrange the caramelized lemon slices around the fillets.
    • Serve with lemon wedges on the side.
