Salt and Pepper Pork Ribs

Salt and Pepper Pork Ribs Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500g pork ribs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder (optional)
  • Or you can purchase our salt and pepper powder premix
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Vegetable oil for deep frying
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2-3 fresh red chilies, sliced
  • 2 scallions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pork Ribs:

    • Rinse the pork ribs under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
    • In a large bowl, mix the salt, black pepper, white pepper, and five-spice powder. Add the pork ribs and toss to coat evenly.
    • Sprinkle the cornstarch over the ribs and toss again to ensure they are well-coated.
  2. Deep Fry the Ribs:

    • Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 350°F (175°C). Ensure there is enough oil to fully submerge the ribs.
    • Carefully add the ribs in batches to the hot oil, frying until they are golden brown and crispy, about 4-6 minutes per batch. Do not overcrowd the pot.
    • Remove the ribs with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  3. Stir-Fry the Aromatics:

    • In a large skillet or wok, heat a small amount of oil over medium-high heat.
    • Add the minced garlic and sliced red chilies, stir-frying until fragrant, about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
    • Add the chopped scallions and stir-fry for another 30 seconds.
  4. Combine and Finish:

    • Add the fried pork ribs to the skillet with the aromatics. Sprinkle with the sugar and toss everything together until the ribs are well-coated and heated through, about 2 minutes.
  5. Serve:

    • Transfer the ribs to a serving plate and garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.
    • Serve hot as an appetizer or with steamed rice and vegetables for a main dish.
